Day 9 - 22 February 2012
Packed up home today.
We are moving on to somewhere around the Grampians. We stopped off at Hamilton to top up
groceries and found a Catholic Church. I
have been searching for a Saint Christopher (Patriot Saint of Travel) since we
started our trip and Oscar got us one for the car and one for my chain around
my neck. He also had them blessed by
the priest. That finally completes the
total requirements for the trip.
We went to a camp site called Cherrypool. What a disappointment. Our first, disappointment that is, and I am
sure there will be many. However approx.
23 km SW from Cherrypool is another camping ground called Mountain Dam. We travelled down the beaten track to this
location and struck gold. So three out
of four is not bad at all. Set up camp
and went for a walk to familiarise ourselves with our new environment. We are approximately 55 km’s north of
Hamilton and 36km South of Horsham.
Oscar took a dip in the lake and I watched as I had sprained
my ankle the day before on a walk.
Nobody laughed this time. Oscar
is way too serious.
Went out last night to look at the stars, wish I had a
camera that could take pic’s of the night sky it is absolutely amazing. Will try soon.
Day 10 23 February 2012
Well day started great but couldn’t wake lazy bones. He was not in the mood to get out of bed
early. Good sign though, as it is a sign
that he is finally de-stressing and relaxing.
Eventually got him out at 10:00am.
We decided that today was a camp day.
This life is really hard but somebody has to do it and Oscar and I have
decided that it might as well be us.
Oscar decided to take me out to show me how to use my camera
properly. So I will share photo’s with
you that I have managed to take with my new found talent.
I took a dip with
Oscar in the lake today. Not a total fan
as the bottom is slimy but I none the less have to give it a go. Had a barbeque for dinner with veggies, must
have my veggies. We have been using the
generator much over the last two days as we have discovered that the Waeco has
been progressively running down the
Auxiliary Battery and that it needed to be charged back up to full. The inverter that we have been using to
charge the computer and mobile phones had suddenly given up the ghost so we are
now charging that through the generator connected to the van.
Have been using the longdrops for the last past week and I have
got to say that if there is one thing I miss about home it has got to be the
loo. I keep wanting to flush and there
is nothing to flush. We are still free
camping and the generator has pretty much paid for itself by now.

The more we read and see the more envious we are. However we have some travel news also. Come June we are off to the US for four weeks visiting LA, San Francisco , Vagas & New York. Keep posting. Terry & Rhondda
