Day 86 - 87 9th May - 10th May 2012

Day 86 Wednesday 9th May 2012

As they say in the “classics”, Sh*t happens! Yep Vania has cracked it, gone on strike and guess what you have me. Don’t expect the same detail as you have been getting!

Well where do I start?!!!

Last night a bit of “wind” blew up. No, it wasn’t me either!  Round about 2.00AM Vania and I folded up the awning. Up to this point the van felt like it had sails and we were about to take off.   Morning, respectable morning time, came and we packed up the van with a little bit of drizzle hanging about. After 85 days Vania and I have this down to a “tee”. It only takes us 4 hours, 47 minutes 26 seconds to pack up (just joking); and our destination was a little bit up in the air. Oscar thought that Streaky Bay may be a good option to camp next. Vania thought that the Gawler ranges may be a better option. Well, being the gentleman I am we decided on a compromise; neither Streaky Bay nor the Gawler Ranges. Stoped at a campsite (dare I say “free”) about 14k’s outside of Elliston called Walkers Rock. Not bad at all; Toilets OK, showers cold water only. Van provides much better option.  About 25.34 metres from our back yard we have a fantastic view of the “Southern Ocean”. Fantastic; however, there is a BUT. The “crashing” of the waves at night keeps one awake.

On a more serious note, if ever anybody out there reading this “blog” has an inkling to travel around Oz, then do it. It is a fantastic country and more to the point the people you meet along the way are “fair dinkum true blue Ozzies”. Fantastic people!!!

Mureal at Eddilston information centre.

Our home, looking from our backyard.

We always have a spare bed. Any takers?

Brrrr!. Cold shower with 5 hole shower head. Van is looking GREAT!

You could almost think you are at Easter Island.

Cobb & Co. Statues all the way along the cliff tops.

Picture of the whole "family".

Many, many photos of beautiful coast line.

Hmm, BIG thongs to fill Van!

Another great mate along the way. This bloke didn't say much.

That is some serious RAM. So close to bringing it back with me.

Beautiful sunset. Beers were even better!

"Arty Farty" photo. Yes this is Vania's hand (not foot)

Tripple somersault with twist!. No, simply taking in the moment.

RIP! This bird shat on my car. Won't be doing it again. (Just joking, for those that don't know my sense of humour)

Day 87 Thursday 10th May 2012

Not sure if I can keep this “blogging” up. I’ll have to be really nice to Vania and offer her plenty of drinks (nudge, nudge, you know what I mean), so that she can take control back on this blog.

Well today was expedition day around the area. We probably clocked up 200k’s at least seeing the local sights. The real WOW factor for Vania was the Baker at Colton. This baker has a reputation all over the Eyre Peninsula; quote “Baker uses traditional methods and cooks with a fire oven”. We actually met the baker and to my surprise and Vania’s he was a young man. Everything the baker made was priced at $3.50. The thing that really surprised Vania was that he had a simple “shop” of sorts, unmanned and there was an “honesty box”.  The young baker never ever reconciled what was in the honesty box to what he baked for the day and touch wood to date the honesty box has not gone missing. Vania said that if this was in South Africa, the honesty box, the merchandise, the shop and even the Baker would be missing. She is flabbergasted.

I cannot recall all the places we went to. However, there are some really good photos. Talking about photos, Yours truly accidentally dropped Vania’s camera a couple of days ago and the LCD screen is “stuffed” (very technical term). Vania decided to post the camera to her brother in Perth and have a quote to have it fixed. If cost to fix is reasonable then good, if NOT I guess we will need to come to an arrangement with Vania and get her a new camera. Very testing and challenging times.

OK, that’s it from me. Sorry about lack of description. I am positive that if a LOT of you reading this blog text Vania on her mobile and ask her desperately to take back writing the blog she could not refuse.

PS I have, hmmmm suppose so enjoyed writing these 2 days.
Vania's early morning photo with the fog. Very artistic, don't you think?

All products $3.50. Van and I had 4 "sticky" buns. Yum!

Young Baker and "old" nomad. Baker doesn't even count the money. Hows that folks!

Houdini is still alive and well.

Oh hum, another beautiful scene.

Apologies for those who are strong Christian minded. Plenty of opportunity to rernovate!

Murphey's Haystack. Incredible Rocks in the middle of the fields.

Waves entering "Woolshed Caves". Wouldn't want to get caught in the water. Worse than a washing machine.

Do I look nervous? I should!

Can ANYONE help in identifying what this? Made of "bone" substance.

Ditto!

Wilds Bee's nest. Wasn't getting too close to these!

Peeky boo! Vania was on the ground too taking the photo. I'm not the only "kid" at heart!

Honesty box at Bakers shop. Never been pinched. Well done!

Simple shop where he sells the bakery items. I reckon rent must be exhorbantant.
