Day 101 Thursday 24th May
Staying with Annie and Lester in Rockingham is giving us an opportunity
to catch up on some very important maintenance tasks. Vania continued cleaning
the “red centre” out from the caravan. The people who serviced WDU564 (my baby)
noted that the transmission oil was very dirty and needed a “flush”. Thinking we still have a long, long way to go
and a lot of towing Vania and I agreed to have the automatic transmission
serviced. I managed to book WDU564 into a specialised transmission service
centre and they did a complete service.
My “baby” is now completely ready to continue our journey.
We also bought a “Cobb oven”. We had heard from Avril’s friend Joe how great
these Cobb’s were. Vania managed to get
a good price in Port Pirie, however for various reasons we did not buy at the
time. Cobb is basically a baby “Weber”. Very simple cooking. I might even offer
to cook some way down the track.
Lester gave himself an early 50th birthday present
and lashed out bought a laptop computer as his old one “stuffed” up. Poor Annie
had to go to work.
All of us watched a DVD titled “Wolf Creek”. This was based
on a true story and apparently “Wolf Creek” is an actual location near Halls
Creek. It is meant to be the location of one of the largest meteor craters in
Australia. The movie was very, very gruesome.
That’s it folks. Sorry there are no photos today.
Day 102 Friday 25th May
Big spending day today. Vania and I lashed out and bought a
new digital 21 inch TV (with DVD player) and a very swish TV antenna.
Fundamentally bought these in readiness for the Olympics. Lester is an
electrician so he offered to install the antenna and get the TV all set up. A lot of running round getting bits and
pieces to complete installations. Additionally we also got a new external radio antena as the one on the caravan broke in half somewhere along our trip.
Whilst Vania was cleaning the caravan she identified additional
tasks that needed to be done in the caravan. Shower in caravan needed to be re siliconed
as the “corrugations” on our trip took their toll. I also noted that there is a bit of maintenance to be done under the caravan, This will have to wait for tomorrow.
Vania has “googled” venues for Rock n Roll and we will
probably go tomorrow night. Vania desperately wants to Rock n Roll.
Once again no photo’s folks.
PS Hopefully Vania will really be pi**ed off with
me not publishing any photos and take over publishing the blog again.
