Day 24 Thursday 8th March 2012
Today was another late start. Oscar didn’t really want to get out of
bed. But in his defence he is having
enormous problems with his ear. I am
hoping that he can survive until we get to Adelaide as it would be better in my
opinion to get help in a bigger city.
Today we travelled to Kingston S.E. (S.E. I’m almost certain
stands for South East, but that would imply that there is possibly another Kingston
in the State or in Australia. Note to
self….. Google and find out). On the way through to Kingston just after Robe is
a place called Cape Jaffa. So you see it
does exist. That is where I originate
from just in case you did not believe me, when I told you I was Jaffa.
We stopped off at Cape Jaffa for some photo ops and to check
out the pricing on Cray’s. We then travelled
on to Kingston S.E. Kingston S.E. has
Larry the Giant lobster and the Cape Jaffa Lighthouse to boast about but not
much else. Cape Jaffa Lighthouse used to
be located on a pier in the middle of the ocean. It was relocated to dry land in 1975-76 but
not in Cape Jaffa as one would expect but rather in Kingston S.E. Oscar is of
the opinion that, most people in Kingston S.E. are not very happy people. Maybe
it’s because they pinched somebody else’s lighthouse.
We left Kingston S.E. around 3:00pm and headed back towards
Robe. Robe - now there is a pretty town. We took a walk to see the “Old Goal” which
has only been restored to waist height and to the “Obelisk”. After our walk we
dropped off in the local pub for a shandy and a beer. Got home about 6 and went to the local pub
for a pizza. Back to camp and I am now
going to do some work for Rocco.
